Every design has two motion settings, and six designs have a hero video. Which ones you get depends on the plan.
Calm
Soft fades as visitors scroll. Included on every plan, free sites too. It is the default.
Signature
Headlines rise line by line, photos drift slightly as you scroll, and scrolling itself is smoothed. It is the version you see in the catalog demos. Included from the $12 plan.
You can pick Signature in the Motion picker on a free site to see it in the editor, but the published free site runs Calm. Upgrade and it switches on the next time the page loads, no republish needed.
Visitors who set "reduce motion" on their device get Calm regardless of plan. That is deliberate.
Hero video
The Gym & Trainer, B&B & Hospitality, Photography, Restaurant & Café, Salon & Spa and Wedding & Events designs have a "Hero video" field. It takes a link to an .mp4 file and plays silently behind the first screen. It is included from the $12 plan; free sites show the hero photo instead. Leave the field empty and the photo is used on every plan.
We host the sample video you see in the demo. For your own, the same rule as photos applies: a link that opens the file itself. Keep it short (10 to 20 seconds) and under 10 MB, or the page waits for it.
If motion looks wrong
Contact us with the address and the device, or use "Report a problem" in your account. Motion is the part of a site most sensitive to old browsers.
