Adding photos

Image fields in the editor take a link, not a file. The rule: the link must open the picture itself, not a page around it. A link to a Google Photos album or a Facebook post opens a page with the picture on it, so it does not work. The Drive and Dropbox links below do not end in .jpg, and that is fine; what matters is that the browser shows only the image when you open the link.

Google Drive

1. Right-click the photo in Drive and choose Share.
2. Under General access, pick "Anyone with the link", then Copy link.
3. The link looks like https://drive.google.com/file/d/FILE_ID/view. Copy the long FILE_ID part.
4. Paste this into the field instead, with your id at the end: https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=FILE_ID

A Drive link stops working when the file's sharing changes or the file is moved. Imgur or your current website is the safer place.

Dropbox

1. Copy the share link. It ends in ?dl=0.
2. Change dl=0 to raw=1 and paste that. dl=1 also works.

Imgur

1. Upload the photo and open it.
2. Right-click the picture itself and choose "Copy image address". It ends in .jpg or .png.

Your current website

Open the page, right-click the photo, choose "Copy image address", and paste it. The photo keeps loading from your old site, so it disappears if that site goes away.

Tips

• Aim for under 1 MB per photo. Phone photos straight from the camera are often 3 to 5 MB and load slowly.
• Paste the link, then look at the preview. If the slot stays empty, the link opens a page, not the picture.
• Photos on Drive or Dropbox load a little slower than photos hosted on a website.
