How the Seed Library Works
No fees, no library card fees, and no barriers. Any Tucson or Pima County resident can borrow seeds, check out tools, and participate in bilingual workshops.
The Three-Step Community Cycle
STEP 01
Borrow Adapted Seeds
Visit the Southside Community Room on Thursdays or Saturdays. Take up to 10 packets per household of heritage beans, chiles, melons, and greens.

STEP 02
Plant & Grow with Support
Use our bi-weekly clinics, olla irrigation guides, and free tool library. Ask volunteer master gardeners questions in Spanish or English.

STEP 03
Save & Return a Share
Let your healthiest plants go to seed at the end of the season. Clean and return a few envelopes to restock the library for next year's growers.

Heritage Seed Lending
Borrow up to 10 packets per season of drought-tolerant tepary beans, I'itoi onions, Tohono O'odham melons, and native amaranth adapted to Sonoran heat.

Desert Soil & Irrigation Clinics
Hands-on workshops covering compost tea, olla pot clay irrigation, shade cloth placement, and monsoon rain catchment.

Community Tool Share Library
Broadforks, wheelbarrows, drip tubing punchers, and soil aerators available for free checkout with any local ID or neighbor voucher.

Bilingual Youth Garden Plots
Mentorship plots where South Tucson students learn seed saving, pollination biology, and healthy culinary traditions in Spanish and English.
